*As students progress in any program, the students who have been studying something longer will need a higher level of training. Students who are beginners should try a class in their desired style to insure they feel challenged and comfortable with the material. We start to diversify and have beginner and intermediate levels so the older teens and adults feel most comfortable.

*Pre Professional students are recommended to take the entire program to prepare for auditions leading to colleges with degrees in the dance arts programs.

CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

Musical Theatre: A unique blend of acting, singing, and dance. Students will learn physical and vocal warm ups they can use for a lifetime as well as team building skills through acting scenes and theatre games.

Ballet 4 and Pre Professional Ballet: It’s the foundation of dance and so necessary to training a bright mind and beautiful poised person. We teach classical technique with a focus on Vagonava training which was created to engage the whole body as a magnificent musical instrument. A trial class for level placement is recommended. *Pointe and Pre Pointe students must take 3 ballet classes per week to build strength and flexibility necessary to succeed on pointe.

Tap 3/4 and Pre Professional: Nothing is as American as tap dance. It was created as blend of styles from African American and Irish immigrants in the 1920s. We vary the styles and teach this classic with a focus on it’s rhythm roots as well as Broadway styles. A trial class is recommended for placement.

Jazz 4/5 and Pre Professional: Like tap dance, jazz dance began in America onstage and on the screen. We include a diverse group of jazz styles including Broadway, Giordano, Hatchett, Rock, Funk, Lyrical, Fosse, Contemporary, and Hip Hop movements to create a strong and versatile mover. At these levels, we include a lot of conditioning to increase strength in jumps and turns.

Acrobatics: This class is an open level due to the personal achievement within different people. This class focuses on flexibility, strength, and balance while training the student on the mat in various acrobatic skills. All tumbling will be spotted until each skill is mastered.

Modern 3/4 and Pre Professional: Where ballet is positions and steps, modern dance is the process of moving from one step to the next. It’s the places between the pictures. Whether you believe it started in Europe or the US, we use this class training technique to create dancers who seem to never stop moving. Beginning levels focus on Limon and Cunningham techniques and Taylor, Horton, and Graham styles as well as improvisation are covered in higher levels.

Contemporary 3/4: This dance form incorporates ballet, modern, jazz, and hip hop with the focus on performance qualities, attack, and flow. Students must know basic ballet, modern, and jazz positions. Previous or concurrent training in ballet, modern, or jazz is recommended.
